PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method are provided to shorten adjustment time and achieve improved accuracy by directly measuring characteristics of element. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus comprises a control unit(1) for controlling an overall operation of a camera including photometric and distance measuring operation, through the use of an electronic circuit; a memory unit(5) for storing information required for the operation of the camera; a jig unit(6) for controlling a microprocessor and receiving a slope for use of photometric and distance measuring operation; a photometric element(7) for detecting the luminance outside of the camera; a light receiving element reacting to the signal including light and sound; a light emitting element for generating light and sound; and a distance measuring unit(2) for controlling the light receiving element and light emitting element, and providing information on the distance to the control unit.
