An optical disk unit (14) having tracking adjusting units (35, 38) and a thread adjusting unit (36) controlled independently of each other, and comprising an offset value acquiring means (432) for detecting a driving signal output from a tracking adjusting unit to obtain a tracking drive offset value, an offset value comparing means (433) for comparing the obtained tracking offset value with an offset center value with tracking adjustment not controlled, a search direction acquiring means (434) for acquiring the search direction of an optical pickup (32) from a control instruction output from a control means (431), and a thread drive judging means (435) for judging whether or not to drive a thread adjusting unit based on the comparison results and the obtained search direction.
