<p>A novel tannage comprises the reaction product of a quaternary phosphonium compound (e.g. tetrakis hydroxymethyl phosphonium chloride or sulphate) with a vegetable tanning agent (e.g. mimosa, chestnut, wattle, tara, myrobolam or quebracho). There is also provided a method for the production of such a tannage.</p> |
