Data relating to vehicle usage is collected using an onboard diagnosis or an onboard measurement system. Such data relates to fuel usage and distance traveled and can be used to calculate emission data and maintenance data. The data calculated with such an onboard sensor and diagnosis system is transferred to a mobile phone and then transferred to a central collection point. The collected data can be used by companies, regional and national governments, etc. In addition it can be used to encourage drivers to drive in a more environmentally friendly way by a suitable bonus scheme.
