PURPOSE: A short message service method using a control channel in a mobile communication system is provided to promote the efficiency of a mobile communication system by compressing and dividing a short message, and by transmitting a short message service through a control channel without setting a special traffic channel. CONSTITUTION: The size of a short message of a transmitted side is confirmed(S200). It is confirmed whether the size of the message is more than 64-byte(S201). In case that the size is more than 64-byte, it is judged whether the state of a terminal is busy(S202). The short message is compressed using a compression algorithm for transmitting the message through a control channel(S203). After that, the size of the message compressed is more than 64-byte(S204). The message is divided in the unit of 63-byte for transmitting the message through the control channel(S205). The message divided is transmitted through a mobile communication network(S206). It is judged whether the message is compressed or divided. In case of being compressed, the message is restored(S207). |
