PURPOSE: A device and method for malfunction diagnosis control of a water temperature sensor is provided to more stably control an engine even though the water temperature sensor is not operated normally. CONSTITUTION: A control device for malfunction diagnosis of a water temperature sensor includes a water temperature sensor(10), a control part(20), and a warning lamp(30). The water temperature sensor detects the coolant temperature in predetermined time period. The control part controls the control motion of malfunction diagnosis of the water temperature sensor. The control part compares the detected water temperature with the temperature before detecting and if the detected water temperature is higher than the temperature before detecting, adding a predetermined increasing compensation value to the temperature before detecting and judging the malfunction diagnosis of the water temperature sensor by comparing the added value with the detected water temperature. According to the result of judging, the control part controls the generation of the control signal for malfunction indication of the water temperature sensor. The warning lamp indicates the malfunction of the water temperature sensor by being lighted according to the input of malfunction control signal of the water temperature sensor.
