PURPOSE: A device for recognizing a dialing in a mobile phone and a method thereof are provided to supply mobile phones applied by various kinds of shapes to users by embodying a dial button as a hexagonal shape. CONSTITUTION: A control unit receives a dialing selection signal from a key input button unit in accordance with a user's selection(S1). The control unit judges whether the received dialing selection signal is a dialing selection signal corresponding to six buttons responded to each apex of the key input button(S2). If the received dialing selection signal is not the dialing selection signal corresponding to the six buttons, the control unit receives a dialing selection signal as to two buttons from the key input button unit(S3). The control unit judges whether an inputted time difference of a dialing selection signal with respect to two buttons being inputted from the key input button unit is within the scope of a set time or not(S4). If the inputted time difference of a dialing selection signal is within the scope of a set time, the control unit judges as a numeral button between six buttons corresponding to each apex of the key input button is selected and performs the corresponding dialing operation simultaneously(S5). At the above (S2) stage, if the received dialing selection signal is the dialing selection signal corresponding to the six buttons, the control unit performs a dialing operation corresponding to the dialing selection signal(S6).
