PURPOSE: A multi-purpose fishing reel with a rotatable spool and a bail assembly moving along a horizontal axis is provided to prevent the entanglement of a fishing line during the winding of the fishing line, and to uniformly wind the fishing line across the whole outer periphery of the spool. CONSTITUTION: The multi-purpose fishing reel comprises a reel body(110); a rotatable spool(160) directly coupled to the reel body; a horizontal reciprocating device(130); an anti-counterturn device(150) for preventing the counterturn of the spool; a spool shaft penetrating the spool and the anti-counterturn device; a rotation device(140) for secondarily rotating the spool; a bail assembly(180) for guiding a fishing line radially along the outer periphery of the spool; and a drag device(170) for controlling the traction force of the fishing line to be wound on the spool.
