PURPOSE: A recognizing apparatus for a tape feeder is provided to recognize information for insertion of the tape feeder and electronic parts to be supplied by the tape feeder. CONSTITUTION: A recognizing apparatus for a tape feeder comprises a base plate(41), a support bracket(31), a vertical plate(32), many switching devices, a recognizing scanner(44) and a scanner moving unit. The base plate(41) includes a front slot column(33a) and a rear slot column(33b) for inserting the tape feeder. The switching devices are arranged in front of the base plate(41) is operated by pressure during contact the bottom surface of the tape feeder. The recognizing scanner(43) recognizes information marked at a recognition mark attached to the bottom surface of the tape feeder. The scanner moving unit includes a timing belt(42) for moving the recognizing scanner horizontally relative to the base frame. The scanner(43) and the timing belt(42) are arranged between the front slot column(33a) and the rear slot column(33b).
