PURPOSE: An apparatus for detecting traffic information and a system thereof are provided to perform a realtime traffic information transmission service and a picture monitoring function by using a multitude of RTMSs(Remote Traffic Microwave Sensor) and a multitude of cameras. CONSTITUTION: A multitude of cameras(10a10b) are installed at a center of an upper portion of a road or a street of the road. A multitude of RTMSs(Remote Traffic Microwave Sensor)(20a,20b) are used for measuring a speed of moving vehicle. A 1:10 multi-port(30) provides a 1:N multi-port for connecting a plurality of detectors with a system, detection data to a control portion(50), and a detector control signal to the cameras(10a10b) and the RTMSs(20a,20b). A diagnosis portion(40) generates diagnostic data by checking the cameras(10a10b) and the RTMSs(20a,20b). The control portion(50) generates traffic information by using image data of the cameras(10a,10b) and vehicle detection data of the RTMSs(20a,20b). A memory(60) is used for logging in realtime traffic information of the control portion(50). A communication portion(70) receives or transmits control data and the traffic information from or to a remote center(200).
