PURPOSE: A multi step switch is provided to avoid transition to the undesired output step during transition to each step and reduce space for the switch. CONSTITUTION: A multi step switch comprises a manipulating unit, an operating unit and a connecting unit. The manipulating unit includes a handle, a pressing rod and a return spring. The operating unit includes a stator(20), a rotor(22), a power coupling terminal(24), a power output terminal, many power coupling terminals(28), a power applying terminal(30) and a return spring(32). The connecting unit includes a power supply(B+) and many independent connecting steps(S1). When the handle receives a reacting force, the rotor(22) rotates by the reacting force transferred through the pressing rod. According to rotation of the rotor(22), the power output terminal connected to one of the power coupling terminals(28) is connected to next one of the power coupling terminals(28). Accordingly, the power from the power supply(B+) is output from one of the independent connecting steps(S1).
