PURPOSE: A wear prevention apparatus is provided to minimize wear of sleeve by preventing contact friction between grand packing and sleeve, while lengthening useful life of equipment. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus comprises a groove(110) for dividing, at a constant angle, the outer circumference of a sleeve(100) installed to a rotating shaft(3) of a centrifugal pump, and which is formed in the lengthwise direction of the sleeve; a water pocket(120) formed in the direction opposed to the rotating direction of the sleeve, wherein the water pocket has a cross section decreasing as it goes from the groove toward the adjacent groove; a plurality of grand packing(50) inserted to the outer circumference of the sleeve, such that the grand packing has a length longer than the length of the groove; and a lantern ring(40) disposed at the center of the grand packing so as to guide the fluid fed from a lubricating water pipe(60) toward the groove.
