Described herein is a nutritional supplement to be incorporated into the diet of an overweight or obese patient comprising a low glycemic index carbohydrate source, a source of protein, and a source of fat, and further comprising a source of green tea extract, a source of 5-hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP), and a source of chromium.
