A system for promoting and advertising on-line charitable donations is disclosed. The system includes a donation management server and a plurality of web sites. The donation management server hosts one or more donation campaigns. A web page on each web site includes an indicia representing one of the charitable donation campaigns. The indicia may include a numerical su b- indicia which indicates the total value of donations made to the campaign. T he total value is dynamically updated each time the indicia is displayed. The indicia may also include alternative sub-indicia which are displayed in response to different conditions, such as the total amount of donations made to the campaign at a selected time.
