The artificial hip joint socket (1) has a pole (2a) and an equatorial opening (4b). It comprises a spherically formed outer shell (3) and an inner shell (4), the inner shell being inserted in the outer shell. The outer surface (4c) of the inner shell has a part surface (4e) with a decreasing outer cross-section to the equatorial opening. The outer shell has an effective connection at least to the part surface in order to hold the inner shell in the outer shell. The inner shell at the equatorial opening has a flange-shaped part, which extends over the outer shell. The inner shell consists of a ceramic material, a cobalt-chromium alloy or a plastics. The outer shell is made of titanium, steel or plastics. |
