Method of amplification of optical signals

The method involves coupling at least one optical pump signal (rps1-rps8,osps) for producing the Raman effect into the optical transmission medium (OF) in the transmission direction (uR). The spectral power density of the pump signal(s) related to the optical signal wavelength range is reduced by a filter unit (OFE) so that its residual spectral power density lies below the noise boundary.
