The invention provides uses for adipocyte complement related protein in the manufacture of pharmaceuticals for minimizing vascular occlusion, inducing vasodilation and enhancing the progression of wound healing in mammals. A preferred amino acid sequence for the adipocyte complement related protein is provided. The invention demonstrates particular utility in treating cases of vascular injury arising from surgery or trauma.
