SILENCE DETECTION METHOD FOR TRANSMISSION SECTION VOICE QUALITY MEASURING DEVICE IN WIRED COMMUNICATION NETWORK

PURPOSE: A silence detection method for a transmission section voice quality measuring device in a wired communication network is provided to exactly detect silence in the case of measuring voice quality in a transmission section of a wired communication network using a voice quality measuring device. CONSTITUTION: If a voice quality measuring device transmits a reference voice signal to a local exchange through the port connected to the first subscriber line, the reference voice signal is sent to a remote exchange through a transmission line. The remote exchange feeds the received voice signal back to the local exchange through another transmission line. The voice quality measuring device receives the voice signal from the local exchange through the port connected to the second subscriber line. A silence judgement part in the voice quality measuring device obtains a correlation extent with the reference voice for the received voice. Also the silence judgement part obtains the voice quality value of the received voice. Also the silence judgement part checks the level of the received voice and compares it with the average value of background noise. If the correlation extent and voice quality value of the received voice are less than given thresholds respectively and the level of the received voice is lower than the average value of background noise, the silence judgement part judges the received voice silence.
