The invention is to provide a method for purifying an ammonia-containing effluent, the method does not form a secondary pollution substance and comprises a step for releasing and transferring ammonia (NH3) from an ammonia-containing effluent into a gas phase, a step for heating the gas resulted at the ammonia transferring step and containing the released ammonia, and a step for contacting the gas heated and containing the ammonia with an ammonia-decomposing catalyst having a function of denitration to decompose the ammonia into nitrogen and water.
