PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin composition for a rib of umbrella adaptable to mass production of the rib having practically sufficient strength without deterioration of stiffness by moisture absorption, which can be recycled without separating from the gore cloth. SOLUTION: This resin composition for a rib of umbrella comprises 10 to 200 pts.wt. of an inorganic reinforcing material (B) to 100 pts.wt. of a polyester resin (A) having 80 mol% or more alkyleneterephthalate repeating unit, providing 15 MPa or higher flexural strength, where (A) may contain recycled resin from recollected bottles. In another embodiment, the composition further comprises polyolefin and/or polyolefin copolymer.
