PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet printing method which forms a light image having good light stability and uses a cationic-colorant-containing ink jet ink composition. SOLUTION: This ink jet printing method comprises (A) the step of preparing an ink jet printer which responds to a digital data signal, (B) the step of loading the printer with an ink-receiving element containing a carrier having thereon a porous ink-receiving layer, (C) the step of loading the printer with an ink jet ink composition containing water, a humectant, and a non-localized cationic azo colorant derived from the quaternization of a nitrogen-heterocyclic azo colorant represented by the formula (wherein Z, R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, (n), and X are each a specific group or number), and (D) the step of printing, responsively to the digital data signal, on the ink-receiving carrier by using the ink jet ink. |
