The device for ream marking of paper sheets (2) when forming a stack comprises a vertical receiving board (1) for sheets and a plunger (6) movable horizontally for ream marking. It also incorporates a vertical slide rail (3) on which a plunger holder (5) can slide under the influence of its own weight. The plunger holder has a stop foot (7) which stops the holder sliding movement when there is contact with the paper stack. The plunger is spring-suspended in the holder, so that its surface is arranged vertically. The sprung suspension permits the plunger surface to be angled outwards from the vertical plane.
