PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanical pencil capable of not only preventing a drop of a residual lead by its own weight but also easily manufacturing a lead protective member. SOLUTION: The mechanical pencil comprises a lead feeding mechanism disposed in a barrel, and the lead protective member disposed at a distal end of the barrel to feed the lead by advancing or retracting the feeding mechanism. In this case, the protective member has a resin tube having tackiness for forming a metal layer at least outward and inserted fixedly in a cylindrical member.
