PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an azo coloring matter which gives a magent color excellent in hue. SOLUTION: The azo coloring matter is represented by formula (1) (wherein Ar is an aryl group or a heterocyclic group; R1 is an optionally substituted alkyl or aryl group; and R2 to R4 are each independently H, a halogeno, cyano, nitro, or the like).
