PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a molded article such as a molded pulp product in high productivity while minimizing the necessary number of expensive male and female molds both having suction holes and engaging with each other. SOLUTION: This method for the production of a molded pulp product comprises a paper-making step to prepare a net fitting a surface of the molded pulp product, place the net on a forming mold, supply a pulp slurry from the side of the net and suck the water of the slurry through the forming mold to form an intermediate product of the molded pulp on the net, a pressing and dewatering step to remove water from the intermediate product by sucking through the press mold of the side of the net while pressing the intermediate product together with the net, and a drying step to dry the dewatered product.
