PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for the simultaneously centralized controlled adjustment of the braking force of yarn brakes of a plurality of twist spindles of a two-for-one twisting machine. SOLUTION: Each twist spindle (S) has a yarn brake (30) supported between two brake rings (20, 23), and the brake rings are stepwise moved in the axial direction. A downward force acts on a support frame (11) attached to a yarn balloon guide (9), and the yarn balloon guide gives a downward axial pressure to a yarn guide pipe (3) to cause the axial movement of the brake rings.
