PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To calculate the flow rate of consumed air on the basis of the inputted information (initial set value) of an air jet loom instead of directly measuring the flow rate of air jetted from a nozzle. SOLUTION: This method for calculating the flow rate of the air in the air jet loom in which a main nozzle 1 and sub-nozzles 2a, 3a are disposed on a sley swung in the longitudinal direction of the loom, is characterized by calculating the flow rate QA (per unit time) of the air from the nozzles according to a calculating formula: QA=113×S×(Pi+0.1013)×n×η×A/360, [wherein, S: the effective cross section areas of the nozzles; Pi: the pressure of each tank; (n) is the number of the nozzles; (η) is the efficiency of the nozzles; A: the opening of a valve].
