PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machine tool capable of accurately compensating the deformation of a guide rail supporting a tool or a workpiece so as to move. SOLUTION: A grinding machine 1 is provided with a beamlike frame member 3c arranged so as to oppose to a machining position, the guide rail 4 in parallel with the beamlike frame member 3c for supporting traveling bodies 5, 6 so as to move, and an expansion and shrinkage member 7 provided between the beamlike frame member 3c and the guide rail 4. The expansion and shrinkage member 7 is expansible so as to adjust a degree of curving of the guide rail 4 or a distance between the guide rail 4 and the beamlike frame member 3c. The straightness of the guide rail 4 is maintained due to expansion and shrinkage of the expansion and shrinkage member 7.
