PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for removing at least one kind of compound selected from acetic acid, acetates and aldehydes from a gas fraction comprising carbon dioxide and the compounds. SOLUTION: This method comprises (a) a process for removing acetic acid, acetates and/or aldehydes by washing at least a part of the gas fraction with a scrubber and (b) process for removing carbon dioxide from the gas washed product in the process (a) by absorbing the carbon oxide in a potassium carbonate aqueous solution, and is characterized by washing the gas fraction with water and acetic acid in the process (a). By this method, for example, acetates such as vinyl acetate and ethyl acetate and, for example, aldehydes such as acetaldehyde may be removed. The method can be used for (i) the production of vinyl acetate by a reaction of a gas containing ethylene, acetic acid and oxygen in the presence of a catalyst or (ii) a catalytic oxidation of (a) ethane and/or (b) ethylene to produce (a) acetic acid and/or ethylene and (b) acetic acid, respectively. |
