PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a battery driven printer in which print operation is prevented from stopping in the way due to consumption of a battery and the number of print sheets is increased as much as possible. SOLUTION: In a thermal transfer printer being driven from a battery power supply, residual level of the battery power supply is detected by means of a voltage detector immediately before starting operation for feeding print sheet from a print sheet cassette at the time of performing print operation. The detected residual level is compared with a reference level, i.e., the print drive power per print sheet, and the printer is controlled to stop starting of print drive operation if the residual level of battery does not reach the reference level. |
