PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst for purifying exhaust gas, which comprises minute catalytic particles that are restrained from being sintered and keeps its shape and a carrier that can avoid the deterioration of the catalyst and has excellent durability and a high NOx purifying rate. SOLUTION: This catalyst for purifying exhaust gas is constituted so that a nitrogen oxides removing catalyst is deposited on an intermediate layer formed on the surface of the metallic carrier. The nitrogen oxides removing catalyst consists of a combined material of brown milarite type multiple oxide particles shown by any of general formulae A3B4O9, A2B2O5 and AB2O4 (A and B are constitutional elements of at lest two elements selected from Ca, Sr, Ba, Y, Ce, Nd, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Ti, Zn, Zr, In and Hf) and noble metal catalytic particles formed from a noble metal of at least one element selected from Ru, Rh, Pd, Ir, Pt and Au. |
