PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for regulating growth of plants by forming a mulch sheet on the surface of the soil of a plant growth area, which is an improved method for regulating growth of plants, not requiring heating of a polymer in film formation, not having environmental/sanitary problems and obtaining a mulch sheet having especially excellent rainwater resistance and proper biodegradation rate. SOLUTION: In this method for regulating plant growth by spraying a mulch sheet formation composition on the surface of the soil of a plant growth area, a mulch sheet formation composition comprising one of more kinds of polymers selected from the group consisting of shellac, gum rosin and wood rosin and water and/or a lower alcohol is used.
