PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sterilize a fluid by radical reaction while the throughput of the fluid is increased at the fixed electric power by irradiating the fluid with a microwave efficiently. SOLUTION: The length on the E surface of the surface of the microwave of an X band and a K band transmitted through a square waveguide is 3-5 cm. The microwave can not penetrate the waveguide when a pipe having the length longer than that on the E surface is inserted. Therefore, the area of the opening of the waveguide is made large gradually. As a result, a longer pipe can be inserted in the waveguide, the throughput per unit time of the fluid can be increased and the capacity for sterilizing microbes can also be increase. When a Teflon (R) pipe is inserted aslant in a reaction part, the propagated microwave is collected several times in the reaction part so that energy can be transferred efficiently. |
