PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for driving a self scanning type light-emitting element array in which a plurality of thyristors can be simultaneously turned on for every ϕI line. SOLUTION: The self scanning type light-emitting element array is comprised of shift part thyristors T driven by two-phase clock pulses ϕ1 and ϕ2, and emission part thyristors L which are enabled to emit light when designated by the shift part thyristors. Gates of transmission part thyristors are connected by diodes D with each other. A VGK is a power source (normally +5 V) and is connected to a gate electrode G of each transmission part thyristor through a load resistor RL. The gate electrodes of the transmission part thyristors are connected also to gate electrodes of the emission part thyristors. When one transmission part thyristor is turned on, only the emission part thyristor corresponding to this transmission part thyristor is made to emit light. Alternatively, when adjacent two transmission part thyristors are turned on, adjacent two emission part thyristors corresponding to these transmission part thyristors are made to emit light. The self scanning type light-emitting element array is driven in this manner. |
