HAIR COSMETIC AND HAIR-TREATING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a hair cosmetic which endows hair with gloss, moisture and tension, prevents the hair from splitting, makes the surface of the hair smooth to realize easier and smoother combing and improves the water-retaining ability of the hair by restraining the volatilization of water from the hair; and to provide a method for treating the hair. SOLUTION: The hair cosmetic comprises a silanized-peptide-and-silane- compound copolymer composition that is prepared by the condensation in an aqueous solution of one or more silanized peptides having at least two hydroxyl groups each of which combines directly with silicon atom and one or more silane compounds which form by hydrolysis at least two hydroxyl groups which combine directly with silicon atom in the composition ratio of 5:1 to 1:1. The hair cosmetic is applied to the hair and then heated. The heating temperature is preferably in the range of 50 deg.C to 200 deg.C.
