PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seat back for automobile capable of preventing an uncomfortable feeling from being provided to an occupant by a rotating center position when a head rest is moved forward and capable of moving the head rest forward by an amount thereof pushed by a pressure receiving member. SOLUTION: This seat back for automobile comprises a head rest support member 7 installed across the upper end parts 2a of side frames 2 rotatably in longitudinal direction, a pressure receiving member 8 supported on the head rest support member 7 and disposed at a position capable of receiving an impact load caused by a rear-end collision, and a head rest vertically movably supported on a head rest holder 9 supported on the head rest support member 7. A tension spring 12 installed across the side frames 2 is supported on the lower end part of the pressure receiving member 8 slidably in vertical direction and in the state of being energized forward.
