PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recorder exhibiting a high recording quality by providing air channels for sucking even a curled recording medium efficiently to a platen while keeping the suction force even when the recording medium covers only a part of the opening of the platen thereby ensuring the positional accuracy and the planarity of the recording medium. SOLUTION: The recorder is provided with a plurality of air channels 23 interconnecting the openings 22 made in the guide plane 21a of a platen 21 and an opening 24 made in a common negative pressure chamber 27 wherein the cross-sectional area of the air channel 23 at the opening 22 on the guide plane side is set lager than the cross-sectional area at the opening 24 on the negative pressure chamber.
