PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a capping device ensuring reliable capping even when the capping device vibrates in which the cost of die for a holder is low. SOLUTION: A capping device comprising a carriage 13 movable in the main scanning direction, a print head 17c carried on the carriage 13, a holder 35 movable in the sub-scanning direction, and a cap 49 applied to the holder 35 is further provided with a restriction means 37 for resting specified positions of the cap 49 and the print head 17c in the main scanning direction and the sub-scanning direction at the time of capping.
