PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chip collecting device for a lathe formed that a flow of cutting oil is improved and a maintenance and inspection work, especially a work to scrape out accumulated chips is facilitated, and the availability factor of the lathe is improved. SOLUTION: The chip collecting device comprises a rigid receiving plate part 35 situated below the cutting part A situated of the lathe and receiving chips 51 generated at the cutting part and dripping and cutting oil 7 fed to the cutting part A and flowing down; a porous plate part 21' situated at the side of the rigidity receiving plate part 35; and a screen part 39 situated on the under surface side of the porous plate part 21'.
