PURPOSE: A light belt and a projector using the light belt are provided to simplify the structure of the light belt and improve light utilization efficiency and to produce a projector using a reduction color mixture. CONSTITUTION: A light belt(30) is placed in front of a light source(51) to form a color image. The light belt includes four liquid crystal display devices(31,32,33,34) that are laminated, a color polarizer(42,43,44) located between neighboring liquid crystal display devices, and a neutral polarizer(41,41'). The polarizing axes of the polarizers are parallel. A projector includes a light source, a light belt that is located in front of the light source to form a color image according to a reduction color mixture, and a projection lens(53) set in front of the light belt. A reflection plate(52) is placed behind the light source.
