PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display having a light guiding plate with a dispersion pattern formed on the side thereof is provided to improve the luminance of a liquid crystal display by changing the shape and structure of a light guiding plate of a back light assembly. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal display includes a back light assembly, a liquid crystal panel, and a mold frame. The back light assembly is constructed of a light source generating light, a light guiding plate(224) formed at one side of the light source, and a reflecting plate placed under the light guiding plate. The light guiding plate has a light receiving part for receiving light, a light outgoing side(224d), a back side(224c) opposite to the light outgoing side. A dispersion pattern(229) for uniformly transmitting the light generated from the light source toward the light outgoing side is formed on the back side and the sides. The liquid crystal panel is placed on the back light assembly. The mold frame accommodates the back light assembly and the liquid crystal panel.
