PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a cross-linked polyethylene wire and cable having an excellent productivity and a high degree of economic effectiveness. SOLUTION: In a manufacturing method of a cross-linked polyethylene wire and cable in which a cross-linkable resin composition formed by mixing silane graft polyethylene and a silane condensed catalyst, is extruded and coated, and then cross-linked in the presence of water or water vapor, the cross-linkable resin composition is controlled to be the melt index of the range of 1.0 to 3.0. While forming a tube with an extruder by using the cross-linkable resin composition, the tube is forcefully dropped together with a conductor by dropping means so as to make the coated outer diameter smaller than the diameter of a mouthpiece in the extruder.
