<p>The invention concerns a method for making a motor vehicle starter (2), characterised in that it comprises steps which consist in: forming a starter pinion (24) having a flank (42) and a raceway (26) for the roll bearing; providing a starter (8) hood (44) having at its inner periphery an axially projecting portion defining an opening (52) having a diameter (T) greater that a largest diameter (P) of the raceway (26); engaging the hood (44) on the pinion (24) raceway and deforming the projecting portion of the hood (44) to reduce the diameter of its opening such that the flank extends between the opening (52) and the raceway (26) and locks the hood in the direction of the raceway; and fixing the hood (44) to a starter housing (14), such that it covers the housing peripherally at least partly.</p> |
