PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To distribute contents managed under copyright through a communication network to many users, while ensuring the copyright protection. SOLUTION: A web server 12 distributes images requested by the user through the Internet to a user PC 6. Image data distributed from the web server 12 have been ciphered, and only a dedicated image editor 22 inside the user PC 6 can decipher them. In the image data distributed from the web server 12, control data indicating a utilization limit by the copyright are included. The image editor 22 controls the editing operation and printing specifications performable to the images downloaded from the web server 12, in accordance with the control data. The image editor 22 prints the images, only when the account settlement processing of an image charge has been completed. |
