PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a broadcasting receiver and electronic equipment, in which a function for automatically detecting a fault and automatically reporting required matters to a determined service center is realized by merging the self-diagnostic function of the device and a telephone function using a telephone line connected to the device. SOLUTION: The fault of a prescribed device inside the device is detected by a fault detecting part 30. When any fault is detected by the fault detecting part 30, the occurrence of the fault is automatically reported through a prescribed network to a center side together with user information. Besides, the fault of equipment connected to a bus such as i.LINK is detected, and when any fault is detected, the occurrence of the fault is automatically reported through the prescribed network to the center side together with the user information. Thus, the device itself can report the occurrence of fault to the determined service center without troubling a user.
