PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable to take a white balance matching to an imaging part even when the imaging part, is exchanged. SOLUTION: In an imaging apparatus, an imaging part 12 mounting an imaging element 20 and a signal processing part 14 to generate a predetermined video signal from the signal imaged by the imaging part 12 are composed separately, and gain control signals to obtain the white balance are stored respectively into the imaging part 12 and the processing part 14. Before taking image of an object, the control signal stored in the imaging part 12 is collated with that in the processing part 14, and if those signals do not match with each other, the control signal in the imaging part 12 is moved to a memory means in the processing part 14 to be used for performing gain control of R and B channels. When the imaging part 12 is exchanged, an adjustment of the white balance is performed in a state that variations in characteristics of the exchanged imaging part 12 are considered, so that independence of the imaging part 12 is secured and mutual dependence between the imaging part 12 and the processing part 14 is resolved.
