oil producing industry. SUBSTANCE: packer has extensible jaws made of material with shape memory, sealing collar, heat element and drive. Heat element is made in form of cooler for reducing the temperature of packer elements in its energizing. Method includes lowering of packer with extensible jaws from material with memory of shape and lugs into well to required depth. Diameter size of packer is increased by opening of lugs with temperature rise in well in excess of temperature of beginning of reverse martensite conversion of material with effect of shape memory. Packer sealing collars are deformed in radial direction. Packer is subjected to temperature action different from temperature of well fluid in point of its installation. Temperature action on packer is effected by reduction of temperature below that of well fluid in point of packer installation up to its lowering to required depth.
