PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic mail transmission control method and an electronic mail reception control method especially suitable for controlling a receiver such as a facsimile type electronic mail device capable of transmitting image data to individuals with excellent operability. SOLUTION: A receiving terminal is constituted as a device which is provided with a function for transmitting image data to a network by converting the image data into the format of an electronic mail, and a control instruction and an electronic mail address list for registration are described in an electronic mail telegraphic message and transmitted by a transmitting terminal. The receiving terminal recognizes whether or not the control instruction is included in the received electronic mail, and when the character string of the control instruction recognized, a destination mail address for registration included in the electronic mail is registered in an external storage part 4 of the receiving terminal.
