Only one facility is provided for step-by-step input of symbols; facility for acknowledging chosen symbols has step- by-step input facility or separate facility, this facility being actuated by means of same hand that holds handset. Step- by-step input control facility has wheel which is free to turn relative to case; this turning wheel (1") may carry symbols or it may be engageable with scale that carries symbols.
