PHASE CHANGE RECORDING MEDIUM AND ITS INITIALIZING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an initialized phase change optical recording medium and an initializing method for the optical recording medium with a favorable overwrite characteristic capable of reducing a jitter rise of second overwriting even in high linear speed recording. SOLUTION: The optical recording medium has a phase change recording layer characterized by that a maximum width of a crystal grain after initialization is >=0.01 μm and <=0.1 μm.
